
Air.
I like the times and places in California when the air is heavy with particulates because the haze erases horizons. When the fog rolls in and lingers, I can see and feel the air around me. Tiny water droplets scatter light and smoothly stratify the land. The haze simultaneously creates a sense of depth and ambiguity creating a fluid sense of what is near to me and what is far.
